Surprise proposal at Trillium Lake with the view of Mt. Hood

I was so excited when I got booked to capture this couple’s surprise proposal. The fact that you get to be there during someone’s special life moment—and not only witness it but capture the real, raw emotions—is beyond special. I’m so grateful they trusted me to do it.
When Andrew asked for a picturesque location with a good view of Mt. Hood and a relatively easy hike, I jumped straight into research. I shortlisted three potential spots, looked up permits, reviews, and even watched YouTube videos of people hiking those trails. I pitched all three and outlined my top suggestion—Trillium Lake, which Andrew ended up choosing.
On the day of the proposal, we did an early morning hike around the lake while taking some couple photos—and ended the hike with a surprise proposal. Even though it had been moody for weeks (typical PNW), right after the proposal, the sun came out and Mt. Hood revealed itself. Such an amazing gift for the newly engaged couple.
When they saw the gallery, Jessica told me she would cherish the photos for life—that the vibe, the style, and the way their moments were captured felt just right.
For this session, I delivered a mix of digital photos, videos, and film—because some stories deserve to be told in more than one way.
Are you a couple planning to get engaged or eloped in the Portland area? I can help you find that special location—from the Oregon coast to Mt. Hood and beyond—and document your day while giving you space to live in the moment.
Curious what we could create together? Reach out and let’s start planning.
